Dear Audrey,
September 18, 2013 in the early hours of the morning, or what some would consider the late draws of the night, you were born. At 2:00 am your mother’s water broke while we were sleeping. She jumped out of the bed and yelled “MY WATER BROKE!!!!!” I then jumped out of bed ready to drive to the hospital. We were both very excited, panicked, anxious, and unsure exactly what to do.

Your mother started doing her hair and make up. I crouched down, breathing, taking everything in. I was about to become a daddy. Catie said she had to “poop”. I said no I think that is Audrey. So I decided to grab all our things and drive us down to the hospital. It was about a 25-30 minute drive. Let’s just say we made it there very quickly.

At 2:50 am we walked into the hospital. Catie went to talk to a nurse; as I went to start our check in process. I finished the first part, went to check on your mom, and a nurse came to rush upstairs to the delivery wing. Your mother was very nervous and anxious. She didn’t want to lie down, and have the nurse check her. So after a few polite requests the nurse finally yelled “CATIE YOU NEED TO LAY DOWN!!!” So she finally did, and the nurse checked to see how far she was dilated. It took less than a second, and the nurse ran out in the hall to find a doctor.

Things began to move very quickly, and all of us were on our toes. The nurses and doctor knew you were on your way. Before the doctor came in your mother asked if she could use the bathroom again. The nurse said yes first, and then as a second thought asked what she needed to do in the bathroom. Once again Catie said she needed to “poop” the nurse grabbed her, and put her back in the bed. We all laughed because your mother kept thinking she was going to poop you out.

Like I said we arrived at the hospital at 2:50 am. After yelling, sweating, and screaming 20 minutes later you were alive and in our arms. The hospital staff and doctors couldn’t believe how fast you came. They all called you the drive by baby. Of course you were perfectly healthy, and you were the most beautiful baby ever born. That is how you came into this world, and we are so thankful to have you in our lives. Your mother is even more thankful you decided to come so quickly.
